Hazleton, Pennsylvania
In a fire, firefighting water mixes with everything that is stored on site. At a site in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, Anhamm barriers keep this water inside. The openings stay free for daily traffic and close by themselves when liquid reaches the floor.

Overview
When a building burns, a lot of water is used to fight the fire. This water picks up whatever is stored inside and must not reach the soil, the drains or nearby water. At a site in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, Anhamm barriers hold the firefighting water back.
The challenge
The gates and doors are used all day by people and forklifts. In an emergency every opening must be sealed at once, without anyone having to act.
The solution
Anhamm barriers lie flush in the floor at the openings. As soon as liquid reaches the floor it lifts the flap and springs press it upright against the seals. No power and no sensors. The seals are made of PTFE and resist acids and solvents. The barrier is certified leakproof for 72 hours by RW TÜV.
The result
Daily operations run as before. In a fire or a spill, contaminated water stays inside the building where it can be pumped out safely.
