Porsche
At a Porsche site the entrances have to stay fully usable for daily traffic and still be protected when heavy rain hits. The flap lies flush in the floor and is driven over every day. When water comes, it closes on its own.

Overview
Porsche protects vehicle entrances at one of its sites with Anhamm flood barriers. Cars and trucks pass every day. When heavy rain pushes water towards the building, the barrier closes by itself and keeps it out.
The challenge
Behind the entrances are vehicles, technology and stock of high value. Water must stay out, but the openings must stay free for daily traffic. A solution that someone has to set up by hand is not an option.
The solution
The steel flap lies flush in the floor and can be driven over without any limits in daily use. It is tested for 200,000 forklift crossings at 3.25 t wheel load. When water arrives it lifts the flap and springs press it upright against the seals. No power and no sensors.
The result
The entrances look and work like before. When the water is gone, the flap can be put back down without tools and the barrier is ready again.
